Between the Veil: Living From a Place of Spiritual Understanding — Post 4
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” — Romans 12:2
There is a vast difference between knowing the truth and becoming the truth you know.
One fills your mind with information. The other reshapes your entire life.
In the Hebrew understanding of binah, truth is never meant to remain abstract—it is meant to become embodied. You don’t just hear it; you live it. You don’t just agree with it; you are changed by it.
When Truth Stays in the Mind
Many of us can recall seasons when we knew a lot about God’s Word—but our lives didn’t reflect it yet. We could quote Scripture, debate theology, and explain doctrine… yet certain fears still ruled us, certain patterns still controlled us, and certain lies still whispered louder than God’s promises.
That’s because information is only the first step. Without transformation, knowledge becomes a kind of spiritual storage—truth sitting on the shelf of your mind, unused.
When Truth Moves Into the Heart
The journey from knowing to becoming begins when God’s Word drops from head to heart. This happens when:
- His promises no longer feel like distant theory but present reality.
- His commands shift from obligation to invitation.
- His presence becomes your first refuge instead of your last resort.
When this happens, the Word no longer competes with the noise of the world—it becomes the loudest, clearest voice in your life.
When Truth Shapes Your Habits
The final step is when truth spills into the way you live every single day.
- Forgiveness becomes your default instead of grudges.
- Prayer becomes your instinct instead of worry.
- Love becomes your posture instead of self-protection.
This is not self-improvement—it’s Spirit-led transformation. It’s binah turning understanding into embodied faith.
Reflection Prompt
- In what areas of my life do I know the truth but not yet live it?
- What would it look like to allow the Spirit to bridge that gap?
Prayer
Lord, take the truth I know and make it the truth I live. Let Your Word not just rest in my mind but be written on my heart, shaping my choices, habits, and character. Transform me from the inside out until my life reflects Your truth in every way. Amen.
