Between the Veil: Living From a Place of Spiritual Understanding — Post 3
“For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.” — Psalm 36:9
There is a kind of light that doesn’t just help you see—it changes what you see.
It’s the light that exposes lies you didn’t know you were believing.
It’s the light that makes your spirit come alive to God’s presence in ways you never imagined.
It’s the light that transforms shadows into clarity, confusion into peace, and fear into trust.
This light is not a thing—it’s a Person.
When we speak of binah—the Hebrew word for understanding—we are speaking about a light that originates from the heart of God Himself. It’s not just spiritual insight—it’s the illumination of the Holy Spirit revealing truth in such a way that you can’t go back to seeing life the way you used to.
Light Reveals Truth
The unfolding of God’s Word brings light (Psalm 119:130). But that “unfolding” isn’t just about explanation—it’s about revelation. The Spirit takes the words on the page and breathes life into them, until they reveal not only who God is, but who you are in Him.
This is why binah is so essential. Without understanding, truth can be present but unrecognized. Like sunlight streaming into a room with closed blinds, it’s there—but you’re not experiencing it. When God opens the blinds of your heart, His truth floods in.
Light Transforms Your Vision
God’s light doesn’t just help you see the world differently—it helps you see yourself differently.
It shows you where fear was controlling you.
It reveals where unforgiveness was blocking you.
It illuminates hidden beliefs that were quietly shaping your choices.
And when you see clearly, you can finally walk in the freedom Jesus promised (John 8:32).
Light Changes How You Live
Once the light of God touches your understanding, the change becomes visible. You begin to respond to situations with peace instead of panic. You choose love where you once chose distance. You stand firm in truth when compromise would have been easier.
The world may not understand why you’ve changed—but you know. The light has done its work.
Reflection Prompt
- Where in my life do I need God’s light to reveal the truth?
- Am I willing to let His light not just expose but transform?
Prayer
Lord, shine Your light into the deepest places of my heart. Reveal what needs to be seen, heal what needs to be restored, and transform what needs to be renewed. Let Your truth set me free, and let my life reflect Your light everywhere I go. Amen.
